LCPS congratulates Sabina Aguilar, Principal at Central Elementary for earning the 2023 NEA-NM Administrator Award

Sabina Aguilar started her career in education 35 years ago. Since then, she has been an active role model to educators she has worked with over the years.

She was a first generation English learner and the first in her family to graduate high school. From her time as a 4th grade Dual Language teacher at Valley View Elementary, to her jump as a 6th,  7th, and 8th grade dual language math teacher at Picacho Middle School — Sabina Aguilar is a woman who wears many hats.

Over the years, she served as a district testing coordinator with accountability, assessment, and research.

She also worked as an Assistant Principal at Jornada Elementary under, now, Secretary of Education for New Mexico, Dr. Arsenio Romero

She continued her career at White Sands, Lynn Middle School, Valley View, and Alameda Elementary as a substitute administrator.

She went on to support all schools in the district as a teacher evaluator, and then became the Assistant Principal at Sonoma and Highland Elementary.

She was an interim Principal at Desert Hills Elementary and after all the great work Sabina Aguilar has done throughout the district, she now calls Central Elementary her home as she serves as the School Principal.

The LCPS Board of Education recognized Principal Aguilar Tuesday night for her dedication to education and for earning the NEA-NM Administrator Award.
